PRESCOTT’S “ECO-HOOD”

The Ecohood is a loose collection of neighbors in the Dameron-Lincoln district of Prescott, Arizona who share common ecological principles of care for the Earth and people. Our informal organization includes seven core households on the 500 block of Dameron Dr. and Lincoln St. and at least as many affiliates within several blocks. We are guided by permaculture principles to harvest and recycle water, grow food and raise animals, promote a pedestrian lifestyle, rehabilitate and protect the local creeks and riparian ecosystem, and foster a safe and supportive neighborhood for all.

We see our transition to a model ecological neighborhood as a remedy for the depletion of non-renewable resources and a hope for a future with a high quality of life for both people and the environment. The dream is that as we deepen our connection to the cycles of the Earth and develop our sustainable food, water, energy, and social systems, we can aid in the transition of our community and region as a whole into the approaching age of energy descent and accompanying relocalization.
